Standard Oak House Signs
Oak is a hard, heavy and very durable hardwood which finishes well. It generally has a coarse straight grain, but it can have lovely variations in its grain and texture. We generally treat with 3 coats of Danish Oil but can supply as varnished if preferred.

Sapele Wood
Pronounced Sa peel e, this hardwood is even harder than oak. It has a rich, lustrous reddish-brown color which gives it a mahogany-like appearance. It is however more stable than mahogany. It should always be maintained with oil or varnish.

Cherry Wood
This lovely timber reddens when exposed to sunlight so the colour improves with age. It has a fine, straight grain which resists warping and shrinking, but it does need to be very well maintained.

Large Timber Signage
For large timber signs we can use either Oak or Douglas Fir. Douglas Fir is not as beautiful as Oak but it is tough and very water resistant which makes it more useful
in exposed situations where maintenance can be difficult.
